ASSOCIATE MEMBER TRAVEL FELLOWSHIPS

Dear Member,
The Behavior Genetics Association anticipates awarding approximately 8-12 Associate Member Travel Fellowships for the 2006 annual meeting in Storrs, Connecticut. Awards will be based primarily on perceived need. The number of fellowships awarded and amount of each award will be determined by the Program Chair (President-Elect). Please note that no geographical constraints apply to eligibility for the awards. To be eligible for a fellowship, applicants must:

  1. be an associate member of BGA or be in the process of applying for membership (i.e., an application for associate membership must be submitted on or before March 15, 2006)
  2. agree to attend substantially all of the BGA meeting if funds are awarded
  3. submit a C.V.
  4. submit a letter of endorsement from the associate member’s adviser/sponsor which addresses
    1. the applicant’s orientation toward a career that incorporates behavioral genetics;
    2. the applicant’s financial need for the award; and
    3. how residual costs of attending the conference will be covered
  5. present a poster or oral paper (as first author) at the meeting and include a copy of the abstract with the application materials.

All applicants should submit an abstract via conference maker at:
gemini.econ.umd.edu/conference/BGA2006,

AND send a copy of the abstract, along with a C.V. and letter of endorsement from a sponsor by March 15, 2006 to the Program Chair (Dr. Laura Baker) at: lbaker@usc.edu. Applicants will be notified of their award status by April 10, 2006. An extension to the early registration deadline is available for those who wish to hear the outcome of their award application prior to registering. If you are interested in such an extension, please indicate this in your fellowship application.

Sincerely,
Michael C. Stallings, Ph.D.
Secretary, Behavior Genetics Association
