Postdoctoral Scholar, Statistical Genetics at UCLA

Applications are sought for a full-time Postdoctoral position. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team led by Drs. Dan Benjamin and Alex Young in the Department of Human Genetics at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and the UCLA Anderson School of Management. The focus of the lab is social-science genomics: the identification of genetic variation that is associated with variation in behavior and other social-science-relevant phenotypes. The Postdoc will play a major role in the Polygenic Index Repository, creating optimal genetic predictors for a range of behavioral traits. This position requires a Ph.D. in genetics, computational biology, biostatistics or closely related field. Successful candidates for this position will have demonstrated research excellence, as evidenced through their publication record. Additionally, they will have excellent analytical skills, strong written and oral communication skills, significant knowledge of a specialized area of research, experience working on externally funded grants, the ability to lead projects and proposals and work as a member of multi-disciplinary teams, and a commitment to understanding the genetics of behavioral phenotypes.

Basic Qualifications

• PhD in genetics, computational biology, biostatistics, or related field.

Additional Qualifications

• Demonstrated research skills, preferably in the form of peer reviewed publications.

• Demonstrated success initiating and leading research projects.
