The Department of Psychology at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment to begin in August 2020 in the area of animal behavior and cognition. Our particular interest is in a colleague who approaches their scholarly work from an evolutionary/comparative framework. The candidate’s research may focus on the study of small animals or non-human primates, and may provide comparisons to human populations. Scholars who use small animals in their research program will have access to a vivarium, scheduled to be fully renovated during summer 2020, that offers state-of-the-art housing, behavioral testing spaces, and a wet lab.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach intermediate-level courses (including but not limited to those currently in our curriculum; http://holycross.edu/academics/programs/psychology), as well as advanced courses in the candidate’s specialty area, some of which may serve as electives for the interdisciplinary minor in neuroscience (http://holycross.edu/academics/programs/neuroscience). This person will also offer service courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, or Research Methods.
This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a full-salary one-semester research leave prior to tenure review, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. Tenure-track faculty are eligible for reimbursement of relocation costs and travel support within the College’s published policies. All full-time appointments offer competitive salaries and include full benefits.
