We have a vacant 3-year position as postdoctoral fellow in the project Reproduction of socioeconomic differences and mental health across generations (REMENTA), which is funded by the Research Council of Norway. The position will be established at the Centre for Fertility and Health, a Centre of Excellence funded by the Research Council of Norway and located at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. The Centre for Fertility and Health researches how changes in fertility patterns and family structures affect the health of children and adults through social and biological mechanisms. We have a vacant 3-year position as a postdoctoral fellow in the project HEALTH GAP: Health, maturation and the gender gap in education. The position will be established at the Centre for Fertility and Health, a Centre of Excellence funded by the Research Council of Norway and hosted by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. The scientific goal of the Centre for Fertility and Health is to greatly advance the understanding how changes in patterns of fertility and family structure influence child and adult health through social and biological pathways. As a postdoctoral fellow at the centre, you will be part of an interdisciplinary and international team. The overall aim of the project is to understand the health consequences of the gender differences in education. Women now take longer education than men and have better results at all levels of education. At the same time, there is a strong link between educational attainment and health. We aim to determine to what extent the gender difference in education leads to differences in health, in particular mental health. We also aim to to investigate whether differences between boys and girls in physical and mental development can explain gender the differences in school performance. We will use large and detailed datasets for the entire population of Norway and data from approximately 100,000 families participating in the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study, which includes genetic data. The project collaborates with several partners, among these the Institute for Social Research and the University of Bristol.
