Qualifications: PhD in Psychology or related discipline. ABD applicants will be considered if all requirements for the PhD will be completed by August 15, 2019. If all requirements for the PhD are not completed by August 15, 2019, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered in accordance with University policy ( http://policies.siu.edu/personnel_policies/chapter2/ch2-faps/conting.php). We are seeking a candidate to anchor our instruction and training in statistics and research methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Area of expertise is open, but especially desirable areas of scholarly interest include quantitative psychology, general experimental, industrial/organizational, learning and memory, applied social psychology, cognitive psychology, program evaluation, behavioral economics, human factors, judgment and decision making, sensation and perception, computational modeling, or machine learning. Required qualifications include demonstrated potential for a strong commitment to undergraduate education and for establishing an independent research program that involves students. Preferred qualifications include experience with distance education and potential to secure external research funding.
Duties: The position requires teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses in statistics and research methods, and other courses related to specialty area. In addition, the candidate will be expected to train and supervise graduate instructors in the delivery of undergraduate courses in research methods and statistics. The candidate is also expected to maintain an active research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students.
The Department: The SIU Department of Psychology is a vibrant and collegial academic unit that provides many opportunities for collaboration with faculty and students from programs in Clinical Psychology-Adult and Child (APA-accredited), Counseling Psychology (APA-accredited), Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and Applied Psychology.
