The Department of Education at the University of York is seeking a Research Associate for 10 months to work with Dr Umar Toseeb. The postdoc will investigate the relative contributions of genetic and environmental influences on the longitudinal trajectories of mental health difficulties from childhood through to adolescence. This will be achieved through the secondary analysis of existing data from UK-based birth cohorts. The post would ideally be from January to October 2022, but we would consider some flexibility. Flexible and remote working options are available in line with University policies.
The post will involve secondary analysis of existing genetic and behavioural data. The successful candidate will:
- Pre-register analyses on the open science framework
- Generate genome-wide polygenic scores using summary statistics
- Fit statistical models to map the longitudinal development of mental health during childhood and adolescence (training in longitudinal modelling will be provided, if needed)
- Co-author papers for publication
- Prepare materials for impact and dissemination activities
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- PhD in psychology, genomics, education or related area (or equivalent experience / nearing completion of PhD)
- Knowledge in advanced quantitative analysis techniques
- Proficient in the use of R
