Postdoc, University of Southern California (USA)

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Department of Psychology at the University of Southern California. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on 2 genetically-informed Alzheimer’s disease projects funded by the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association under the joint supervision of Drs. Christopher Beam and Margaret Gatz.

The position will consist of conducting longitudinal twin studies using data from 3 aging studies in the Swedish Twin Registry (the Swedish Adoption/Twin Study of Aging, OCTO-Twin, and GENDER) to test whether physiological dysregulation mediates effects of social isolation on Alzheimer’s disease risk. Additionally, there will be opportunity to conduct cross-sectional and longitudinal studies to identify potential sex differences in genetically and environmentally influenced risk factors (e.g., education status, midlife health behaviors) correlated with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease risk using data from 10 studies in the Interplay of Genes and Environments Across Multiple Studies (IGEMS) Consortium. Proficiency in R and/or Mplus required.

Contact Christopher Beam at beamc [at] usc [dot] edu for additional information about this position. The start date is flexible, although preference will be given to strong candidates who can start as soon as possible.  Salary will be commensurate with number of postdoctoral years of experience.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
