Call for Journal Editor or Co-Editor Team

About the role
The Federation of Associations in Behavioral & Brain Sciences (FABBS) is looking for a new Editor or Co-Editor team for our journal, Policy Insights From the Behavioral and Brain Sciences (PIBBS). The Editor will work on two issues per year, 15-30 manuscripts (depending on Co-Editor or sole Editor status), 20-24 pages each. The manuscripts translate scientific research into policy-relevant communication for audiences beyond academics. Editing responsibilities would include eliminating jargon, clarifying tone, and avoiding partisan commentary. The commitment period is an expected term of 5 years. Editorial support and assistance will be provided by FABBS and Sage. FABBS is open to considering individual editors or a team of Co-Editors. A stipend is provided by Sage (split in the case of Co-Editors).

About the journal
Published by Sage, PIBBS aims to publish invited articles that present brief, original reviews of scientific findings of relevance to public policy. The goal of this journal is to provide a vehicle for scientists to share the field’s research findings to help build sound policies, and importantly, allow those who design policies to provide feedback to the scientific community regarding the types of research that could address them. The journal challenges the scientific community to build theoretical models that seriously consider implementation that addresses the needs of society. Now going into its 13th year, PIBBS is indexed by PsycINFO and Scopus and was short-listed for the American Association of Publishers’ Award for Best New Journal in the Social Sciences. We are open to new ideas and visions for PIBBS moving forward. For more information, please see https://fabbs.org/pibbs-journal-2/.

Key skills and attributes
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in the behavioral or brain sciences and experience in both journal publishing and policy engagement or advocacy.

Materials to submit
Applicants must submit a CV and a vision statement for the continuous development of PIBBS. The statement should address PIBBS’ role in the science ecosystem, editorial priorities, and plans to increase the visibility of the journal.

To apply, please email a compiled PDF of your application materials to info@fabbs.org with the subject line “PIBBS Editor Application.” Applications are due April 15, 2026.
