Behavior genetics captivates a broad audience that goes beyond the academic community. The visibility of this scientific discipline has significantly expanded with the growth of public interest, the democratization of science through open access, and the rapid dissemination of scientific findings online. Unfortunately, misinterpretations and misrepresentations of behavior genetics research have increased as well, raising the risk of harm via misuse and misappropriation. 

This committee is dedicated to addressing the public science challenges faced by behavior genetics research. Our goals include exploring the broader impact of behavioral genetics research, guiding behavioral geneticists in the effective and ethical communication of their findings to the public, tackling the spread of misinformation by providing resources for academics and laypeople to better understand the field, and facilitating discussions on these critical issues in various forums, including the annual meetings of the Behavior Genetics Association.
