The Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences (FABBS) Board of Directors is engaged in a fundraising effort to ensure that psychological science is adequately represented and advocated for on Capitol Hill. Specifically, FABBS is working with a former board member as part of a matching challenge to raise $25,000 to expand FABBS’s efforts.
FABBS is a coalition of 35 scientific societies, 60 academic departments, and 3 corporate affiliates working to advance understanding of the mind, brain, and behavior through science advocacy and education. FABBS has played a critical role in helping researchers navigate an unusually turbulent federal funding landscape — hosting a webinar with accompanying templates and dissemination guidance on OMB's proposed rewrite of federal grant rules, sponsoring four students to attend the AAAS CASE workshop, and meeting with Hill offices on the impact of NIH, NSF, and IES grant terminations and funding cuts.
Some of the activities FABBS has engaged in recently (a comprehensive list can be found on the 2025 Accomplishments document):
1. Engaged with FABBS Trump Administration Agencies to provide advice about scientific funding
2. Responded to RFIs and provided comments so that behavioral and brain scientists help shape policy
3. Educated members of Congress and advocating for specific initiatives related to psychological science
4. Submitted Testimony to the House and Senate for Fiscal Year 2026
If you are able, please consider contributing to FABBS's mission here. No matter the size of the donation, it will directly help FABBS increase its advocacy efforts, ensuring we can represent the interests of our scientists at the national level. In the past year, we have grown in both size and scale, and our capacity can still be extended with your help.
